Field: Employment Status of Claimant

Description

Housing Benefit can be claimed by people in employment.

Employment status is derived from the source data collected on both the claimant and partner at the reference date (second Thursday of the month). Information must be provided on:

    - working for an employer

    - self-employment

    - any other paid work (see the images of questions below).

The information is collated into claimants in employment, claimants not in employment and claimants not eligible to work as a result of receipt of another passported benefit.

Quality Statement

Employment status of claimant (and of partner of main claimant if applicable) on the reference date (second Thursday in the month) is derived from employment information recorded as part of the housing benefit claim process (see Images of Questions above).

Proof of claimant and/or partner earnings must be supplied, for example payslips or trading accounts.
